Pumpkin Time Lapse

I have been realizing that I don't really show enough 'behind the scenes' of the things I create. So I would like to do more of that, and what better way than with a time lapse video!

My YouTube channel is called RiaArtWorld after all! So I want to start sharing some more videos that show my whole illustration process.

With the holiday season fast approaching, I have crocheting up a storm, but that doesn't mean I can let my drawing hand get rusty! So I decided to illustrate a happy pumpkin in time for Halloween.

Pumpkin Line

Can these little crochet pumpkins get any smaller? Yes! They sure can!

Every year, I manage to crochet smaller and smaller and you can too! Don't forget to check out my pumpkin crochet pattern by clicking on the 'Crocher Patterns' tab above!

Spooky Owl

I just got this new app that allows you to put fun movie filters over your photos and I'm having a blast! It is making this photo of my hand sewn owl look way more spooky cute with the moving fog and bright October moon!

October Sketchin'

I've been starting to edit a manuscript of mine called Drac Cat, and it inspired me to have a little fun with one of the characters from my story. So here is a sketch of Young Drac playing around with his candy pack!

Spooky Door

Since I love October, I definitely go all out with the decorating. I have some handmade spooky eyeball door-handle covers all around the house.

So I thought I would share! This particular one is among some of the first objects I ever crocheted!

It's also kinda funny how you can totally see my reflection in the door handle!

Happy Friday!

Just a little October joke for Friday. I hope you are staying dry if you're in San Francisco!

Zombies!

Every now and then I like to take a step outside of my own work and try to follow someone's patterns. I find that it helps me to become more inspired to work on my own projects, not to mention, you can always learn something new from someone's work!

These are from a book called Zombie Felties. Yes, I'm serious. A whole how to book on making handsewn miniature felt zombies.

I made the traditional zombie and of course, the pumpkin zombie. Naturally had to have a spooky-cute photoshoot right after. Soooo enjoy-yay Halloween!

Back of the Postcard

I just wanted to share the back of the Halloween mailer I did for my agent at the end of September.

I also think it is interesting to show the sketches and thought processes that go into to creating my illustrations, it's something I need to do more of so I included those as well.

I'm sure all the cards have gone out by now, but here is what the whole card looked like all put together!

Easy Pumpkin Pattern

Here is a minute long time lapse video of a simple pumpkin pattern I came up with. People have expressed a desire for this pattern, so I included the pattern along with step by step instructions here on my blog!

Just click on the 'crochet patterns' tab above!

If you decide to make a pumpkin using my pattern, I would love for you to share! Just give credit please! Thanks!

Mmm!

Now this is my type of Halloween candy! I finished this giant crochet candy corn...and is it wrong that I want to eat it? Just kidding! Well...a little.

It's not that candy corn is the bestest candy out there, but the Halloween kid inside of me is filled to the brim with nostalgia whenever I eat it today! So it seems only fitting that I would honor this with a giant crochet candy corn.

Spooky Cute

I was rifling through some old files on my desktop and I came across these little spooky cute characters I did a while back now. They are so cute, that it made me want to re-visit what I made and is inspiring me to make a few new sketches!

For now, I wanted to share these little cuties, that I think could be perfect for a pattern. It is giving me the idea to create some adorably spooking cute packaging for those October Etsy orders.

Pumpkins!

I'm crocheting all day today! So I'm makin' pumpkins, makin' pumpkins!

October is the perfect excuse to do so. I'm considering making a tutorial video or uploading a pattern!

More to come, once I have perfected my craft ;-)

October Mailer

My agent requested that I make an Autumn mailer, so I of course, instantly went to Halloween!

Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, I love a good pumpkin patch and I certainly remember running around in between all the pumpkins as a kid.

So I wanted to capture that feeling with this illustration!

Spooktastic!

Happy October!

It is now officially one of my most favorite months, and I plan on sharing all things Halloween all month long!

So what better way than to start off with my spooktastic critter earrings! I have my classis candy corn earrings (available in my Etsy shop) and I'm also playing around with some pumpkin earrings. Now if I could only decide on which face to choose! Definitely leaning towards the 'carved' pumpkin face since it's more Halloweeny!
