This Mr. Orange illustration was inspired by one of my miniature crocheted characters. I think I am definitely going to use it as a postcard mailer for a while.
The Academy had an amazing event the Saturday before Halloween. They had a huge room with models that were dressed up in scary costumes. They were awesome models. My favorite was a guy that was dressed up as a zombie (of course). He had the best facial expressions, so I just had to not only draw him, but take some photos as well.
I like this rough start of a model I drew today. I think I may try and color this drawing in my Saturday class. We are going to use a technique I am just learning about that involves prisma color and turpenoid.
OK, the turpenoid study was a success, I think the painterly quality is nice. It did not take much to end up with a finished looking study.
This drawing is a favorite from my Chiaroscuro class. Not every drawing comes out successful, but every once in a while, I hit the nail on the head. There are still some kinks to work out, like toning down the brightness of the ear and defining the sharpness of the shadow under the chin.
